                                                 What I understood from IBL

Lead students to search the meaning of a determined subject. It always stars with an open-ended question. And it implies procedures as well as peer’s support in reaching a final product.
This is a friendly method for students to get involved with the whole class. They spend time with some classmate in order to solve any problem. This method is more about investigation, questioning and examining; moreover, students take the lead of the group and they are freer to learn what they are interested in.  This learning is very dynamic regarding the students because they share ideas and correct the mistakes they have. Also, this method has centered the engagement with the students because it is a fundamental quality.  Explore, explain, elaborate and engagement are in the evaluation in this method.

The students in this effective method play an important role because they are the leaders. The students under this method learn by their own and their other classmates. They interact more with the class; additionally, they have the responsibility of that learning. Allowing students to take the lead becomes they more active in the process of inquiry, they explore because of the curiosity that all of them have when something is not clear. And when they are ready to explain they give opinions to the class.

The teacher in this method of learning is the guide on the group. He does not interact too much, but he is providing everything to the students. The teacher has to be inside the classroom paying attention on what the students are doing. He is more like a facilitator to the learners. If the teacher is not actively participating with the students, it does mean that he is not going to do anything. He can move around to prove that the students are not having any problem, or if they need something else to continuing working on the assignment.

Inquiry Based Learning has five characteristics. They are:
1. Student’s engagement.
This method wants the students to be responsible because they are creating the learning by doing the process themselves. Also in participation they have to collaborate.
2. students take the lead:
They are the leaders of the group, so they have to be more serious in the way that they are doing something important.
3. Check knowledge and identify learning needs.
They are going to learn what they need to learn and what is important for them.
4. students curiosity
They have to look for the things that they want to know or they have a doubt.
5. student’s responsibility
They have to be engaged to learn the content that is given.

This method is very effective to use because students get involved by themselves. This is an interesting method for the students because they are freer to learn and happy to participate and give opinions that they want to share.
Teachers think that this method is fun for them and it is effective to use because they are more confident and they only help when students need them. Teachers only have to provide material and they can take a look if the method is working.
