(#2 Adjectives)

Describe
At the beginning of my class, I saw that my students were looking at me like if they were waiting for a test. I heard that some of they were practicing some dialogues that the teacher gave them. Moreover, when I started to teach they paid attention to me and helped me with the activities. They are very good students and they like to participate in class. I arrange the desk in a horse shoe in order to develop a reading comprehension in order to introduce the topic “Identify and Describe People”; so that, the reading were about famous people like Messi, Shakira, Obama, etc. I proved that incorporating information that they already know is better for they to acquire knowledge. Furthermore, I used a word search puzzle in which the students found the list of the word, and then the students passed to mark on a big chart that I pasted on the board. It really worked because they memorized at least 15 adjectives.  This class was better that the first one because both the students and me enjoyed the class.

Because they are kids, they like the kinesthetic activities type. So that, we played “sea/sand” as a warm up in order to cheer students up.

Students learn better when they do what they really like.

I think that teachers, when teaching beginners, should incorporate active activities.

Based on what I already know about beginning with a warm up, I think that some students acquire information while playing.

Based on what I observed, I think students liked to learn with colorful charts in grammar and others.

I believe that praising students plays an important role in their participation.

So, in the future, I will keep doing the same work as today because I noticed that they enjoyed the class.

In future lessons I will create more colorful charts.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will include active warm ups.

In future experiences I will also include more activities to develop in groups.

Teaching Affirmative & Negative Statements

Describe
At the very beginning of the class, I could notice that some students were speaking English by they own. They looked very happy and comfortable. Moreover, during the warm-up some of them were little shy, but some others were participating and helping the teacher (me) in the development of the activity. I decided to explain grammar using a colorful chart, and I know that this helped me a lot. In other activities, I used some flashcards in order to describe and make affirmative sentences. Otherwise, my students were supposed to be beginners, but they knew a lot; so that, they found the topic really easy; as they knew a little bit about the topic, they developed the activities really fast. On the other hand, the environment was quiet and the arrangement was the traditional form, so I decided to include some activities in pairs and groups.

During some activities, using flashcards is a good option because students tend to understand and acquire knowledge much better.

The topic was really easy for them, so I took advantage of it because I developed more activities.

If they know about the topic, the teacher should give them more difficult activities. This can help the students to gain knowledge about the same topic.

Based on what I already know about developing activities, the teacher has to find the best activities that work well for the students.

Based on what I observed, I think that the development of the activities is the best segment for the students; basically, the ones that are kinesthetic.

I believe that enthusiasm, visual aids, and good activities help the learning process of the students in order to withhold the knowledge.

So, in the future, I will continue using flashcards, charts, and reading because I proved that worked well.

In future lessons I will find new ways to teach “affirmative & negative statements” I will visit some websites or more books.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will try to use more listening activities.

In future experiences I will also include more extra activities if they finish before time. In this first experience, I had trouble with the time, but I hope to do it better the next time.
