Third teaching Practicum (3° period)

Describe
At the very beginning of the class, I could notice that some students were speaking English by they own. They looked very happy and comfortable. Moreover, during the warm-up some of them were participating a lot! And helping the teacher (me) in the development of the activity. I decided to explain grammar using a colorful chart, and I know that this helped me a lot. In other activities, I used some dialogues; unscramble the sentences, speaking activities, etc. I arranged the chairs in groups work, and in a horse shoe shape. To explain grammar, I created some charts where the students could see the structures of the sentences (conditionals). Because this was the last class, I decided to take 5 more minutes in order to let students give me feedback. So, I created a page and they had to tell me 3 things that they liked of my classes and at least two comments about things that they did not enjoy. I am absolutely sure that this will help me to become a better teacher with this amazing experience of being a teacher.

During some activities, the students were asking me about more examples of the type 3 of conditionals.

The topic was really easy for them, so I took advantage of it because I developed more activities on “Inventions and Discoveries”.

If they know about the topic, the teacher should give them more difficult activities. This can help the students to gain knowledge about the same topic.



Based on what I already know about developing activities, the tutor has to incorporate new vocabulary when teaching new topics and units.

Based on what I observed, I think that the development of the activities is the best segment for the students because they can practice and review information.



I believe that enthusiasm, visual aids, and good activities help the learning process of the students in order to withhold the knowledge.

So, in the future, I will continue using flashcards, charts, and dialogues because I proved that worked well.

In future lessons I will find new ways to teach “Inventions and Discoveries” I will visit some interesting websites and more books.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will try to use more listening activities.

In future experiences I will also include writing activities or at least mix some activities to improve their skills.

Second Teaching Eperience

Describe

What I saw during this slice of lesson is that my students were sitting and waiting for me. To start the class, I had to introduce a new unit “Inventions and Discoveries” so that I had to introduce new vocabulary from the whole unit. I thought it would be really nice if they develop a word search puzzle with the vocabulary as a warm up. So, I brought some pages with the square and the list of words and also I made a big char; I think that it really worked. Then, I explained the difference between the words INVENTION And DISCOVERY using the vocabulary; I needed the help of my students. For this class, I decided to arrange the class in small groups as it would be easier to develop the rest of the activities. During the class, I use pictures, colorful charts, stories of inventions, etc. To sum up, I am sure that they understood the grammar explanation as well as the new vocabulary.

I think that students of intermediate do not basically need a kinesthetic warm up. They enjoy to do simple warm ups.

To avoid the grammar mistakes I did, I should practice more after the class.

I think that to include readings and dialogues in a presentation of a topic is an easier way to make students understand.


Based on what I already know about giving feedback to the students, I consider that the feedback is better right in the moment.

Based on what I observed, I am sure they do not need a bog warm up.

I believe that confidence helps if the teacher starts since the very beginning smiling with the students, so they will feel nice being in the classroom.

So, in the future, I will include some songs and more stories about discoveries around the world. Also, I will teach using a power point presentation.

In future lessons I will incorporate more speaking activities since I was teaching the conditional sentences.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will practice more about my grammar in discourse.
In future experiences I will also pay attention to my student’s recommendations.

First Teaching Practicum (3° period)

Describe

What I saw during this slice of lesson is that my students were sitting and talking about a soccer match. And I started talking with them while we were waiting for the teacher.  When I started the class, I gave a piece of paper to them in order to write their names as it was the first class. Because my tutor started with a pray, I did the same. Moreover, I did a bingo as a warm up, they really enjoyed it. For the presentation, I had to explain new vocabulary like “peeled”; so I showed them 2 potatoes, one peeled and the other one half-peeled. That helped me a lot because I also taught “Adjective Clauses with subject Relative pronouns & Object relative Pronouns”. To explain the grammar part, I made a chart reflecting the differences of the clauses. And I created a sentence that said: The potato that is peeled is really big. I knew that my students had understood because they gave me a lot of examples.  This time I arranged the desks in a horse-shoe and I incorporated groups of work. I am really glad with my new students and myself as the teacher told me that my class was enjoyable!

I think that students seem the grammar explanation interesting because they are an upper level and they know that if they pay attention, grammar will be easier.

To avoid being so boring when explaining the grammar, teachers should use colorful and short charts.

I absolutely think this is important because this make the environment more enjoyable and interactively.  


Based on what I already know about giving a good presentation, I am sure that using pictures and dialogues is a nice way to make them participate in the whole class.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally like to participate when they are praised.

I believe that confidence helps if the teacher starts since the very beginning smiling with the students, so they will feel nice being in the classroom.

So, in the future, I will include more colorful charts, pictures, and some different activities to teach this topic.

In future lessons I will incorporate kinesthetic activities because this time I did not use them so much.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will incorporate groups work as well as I would change the students who talk too much with their classmates.

my last teaching practice!!! :)

Describe

What I saw during this slice of lesson is that my students were talking about a listening exam that they had. When I started my class, I decided to play B.K.B by forming small groups. I noticed that they really like kinesthetic games. Then, I was explaining the use of CAN for possibility, and they paid me attention when explaining the new grammar structure. In order to practice the explanation, I developed a speaking activity, and I noticed that this activity worked very well because they remembered what they had studied the previous class and in the new one. I arranged the desks first in a horse-shoe. I used some colorful charts and a fill in the blank activity. Today was a nice class.

I think that students seem the grammar explanation interesting because they were helping me a lot.

In order to avoid being boring when explaining grammar, teachers must use colorful charts.

I think this is important because this make the environment more enjoyable and interactively.  


Based on what I already know about beginning the class with a warm up, it is proved that students tend to cheer themselves up.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally like to participate when they are praised.

I believe that confidence helps to keep a good flow in the class.

So, in the future, I will include more colorful charts.

My second teaching practice

Describe
At the very beginning of the class, I could notice that some students were speaking Spanish. So that, I created two boxes: “Participation” and “Penalty”; and I told them that if they were going to speak Spanish, they were going to have a penalty. Moreover, during the warm-up I noticed that they really enjoyed the “bingo” game. I decided to explain grammar using a colorful chart, and I know that this helped me a lot. In other activities, I used a picture in the projector in order to describe and make Wh-words in present continuous. Plus, I developed an unscramble the sentence to practice the correct structure of the questions. Finally, I gave an egg to a student who told me the correct answer of a question. I really liked this class!

During the presentation is a good option to use pictures because students tend to understand and acquire knowledge much better.

The topic was really easy for them, so I took advantage of it because I developed more activities.

If they know about the topic, the teacher should give them more difficult activities. This can help the students to gain knowledge about the same topic.



Based on what I know about developing activities, the teacher has to find the best activities that work well for the students.

Based on what I observed, I think that the wart the warm up worked really well at the very beginning of the class.

So, in the future, I will continue using pictures, charts, and reading because I proved that worked well.

In future lessons I will find new ways to teach “wh-questions in present continuous”, I will visit some websites or more books.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will try to use more listening activities.

In future experiences I will also include the idea of give the students candy when they participate and penalty when they speak Spanish.
